My 2019 Goals (& how I’m doing)
Let’s put it bluntly - I’ve done terribly. So far. BUT, I am determined for this second half of the year to be a lot more productive (send motivational vibes my way).
DEBT FREE
Actually, I’m pretty close to completing this one. Debt has never really been an issue for me, I’d say I’m fairly good at living within my means. However, ASOS and holidays have been a common occurrence this year so I did rack it up a bit. I’ve simply written down a list of how much I’d like to pay off each month, I pay it, then I get to do a big satisfying tick next to the month on my list. Easyyy.
GET BRACES
This has literally been on my goals list since I was about 18, so maybe this is the year?! I’m thinking Invisalign but still undecided. I was booked in to get clear train tracks but I backed out as I just wasn’t sure I wanted them to be fixed. If you’ve had braces recently, please please let me know ALL the details. My teeth are probably my biggest insecurity so I hope to tick this one off ASAP. I just need to make up my bloody mind which ones I want!
SAVE £K
I didn’t want to be distasteful and state how much I’m trying to save as I know money is a personal thing for some people (I’m not one of those people but still). Our goal is to buy a place next year - eeeeee SO EXCITED. So this year is alllll about saving as much as possible. I thought it would be easier than it is - FOMO and not quite grasping that there is perfectly good food to eat at home are my biggest weaknesses when it comes to saving *inserts why are you like this meme*
RUN 10K
Anyone who knows me will know that I am not a natural runner. A few months ago (lol) I did a few 5k runs which was an achievement in itself. My timing was around 40 minutes as I could only slowly jog it so I feel like 10k is a big ask but it’s worth a go. I started the couch to 5k app again today as I’m very rusty and I want to improve on my 5k time, I guess after that I can start working on reaching 10k!! All running tips will be highly appreciated. I’m going to do weekly posts about my running in case anyone is interested in how I’m getting on (is anyone interested? Or am I the only weird one who likes reading other people’s running diaries? Probably just me.)
VISIT 3 COUNTRIES
Completed it. This year we’ve been to Berlin, Amsterdam and Tenerife. Would loveee to fit in another trip before the end of the year but that goes against my savings plan... but we’ll see. We want to do a trip to Brussels or Zurich (thanks to Travelman on ch4) maybe near Christmas time so if we can find it cheap then I think I could definitely be tempted.
READ 6 BOOKS
So far I’ve read 2... I’ve just downloaded the kindle app on my phone which has made reading SO much easier. At the start of the year, I read An Edited Life by a fellow Brightonian I have followed on blogs/insta for years. I’d definitely recommend if you’re looking to get your life/shit together. The second book I downloaded for my holiday and it was incredible. It’s This Is Going To Hurt if you haven’t read it, you HAVE to. I was laughing out loud next to the pool but it’s also such an interesting insight into the lives of junior doctors (genuine heroes) it’s also worth noting that it has made me a thousand times more terrified of childbirth so maybe don’t read it if you’re pregnant haha.
So those are my goals. I have 5 months to complete them. Do-able?? Yeahhhhh x
